Kurttepesi
Situated 45 kilometers east of the province of Şanlıurfa, within the confines of Sumaklı village, locals refer to it as "Kuça Gura." Kurttepesi occupies a prominent position on a hill, overseeing the Çoban Deresi Gorge, a pivotal gateway connecting the Harran Plain and the Viranşehir region. Characterized by impoverished soil, Kurttepesi stands as a flat mound, marred by unauthorized excavation pits.
In the course of on-site investigations, a notable concentration of flint artifacts emerged, including fragments of points, blades, scrapers, drills, and side scrapers. Noteworthy among the findings is a 'T'-shaped limestone pedestal fragment discovered within the vicinity. An analysis of the site's artifacts suggests its classification as a Pottery-Free Neolithic site.
